The Low Tide catalogue: four tide shelves, sixteen category doors
A Pandagoo Spreadsheet collects products worth ordering through that agent. Here every pick sits on the shelf for the season in which China sells it cheapest, and every category has a door with a note on its timing.
Every category door, each with its season note
Sixteen category doors. The photo on each door is one of our own picks; the note says when that kind of goods tends to be cheapest in China.
Coats and jacketsCheapest from May to August in China. Northern buyers store; southern buyers wear on arrival.
Sunglasses and framesSun lenses ebb in China’s winter; optical frames keep one price all year.
SweatpantsFleece-lined pairs clear in early summer; thin ones never really go out of season.
Hats and beaniesTwo tides: beanies in China’s spring and summer, brims and bucket hats in its winter.
SneakersMostly slack water, except fleece-lined winter pairs, which follow the coats.
T-shirtsQuick-dry and thin cotton tees ebb from October to January.
BagsNo season to wait for. Totes fold flat and ride along in any parcel.
HoodiesHeavy fleece-backed hoodies follow the winter tide; light ones sell all year.
JeansFleece-lined jeans clear with winter stock; regular denim holds its price.
Women’s picksA search across women’s goods; slip dresses and cardigans follow the summer and shoulder tides.
JerseysPlain training kits are summer stock in China and cheapest after it.
BeltsSlack water. Buy when one breaks.
FragranceWe list empty decant bottles only; filled bottles do not belong on a long hold.
JewellerySlack water. Small, light and unaffected by storage.
WatchesNo price season. Battery and strap age matter more than the month.
GadgetsFans and hand warmers carry batteries and need a line that accepts them.
Four tide shelves of hand-picked listings
The shelves hold 38 listings we opened one by one on 1688, all unbranded, each with its offer number, first price tier and the monthly sales figure from the day we read it.
How a tide shelf card is read
Start with the season note, then the menu warning; those two lines are what we learned by opening the listing. The offer number lets you find the same listing again later and see whether its first tier has dropped. The first tier is the price for the smallest quantity the seller accepts, which is not always one piece.
